All collectors aspire to have a piece of history within their collections. This Opalized Baculite dates back approximately 66 to 145 million years ago. The phenomenon of opalization occurs over countless years of geological history. Once a living creature, it has undergone a transformation over time, resulting in these vivid hues of pink, purple, green and blue. Discovered in Montana.

A baculite is an extinct, straight-shelled cephalopod from the Late Cretaceous period, which is related to modern squid and octopus. It is recognized for its unique, tapering, tube-like shell that begins coiled and eventually straightens out. These fossils are significant index fossils, and their shimmering shells (ammolite) are occasionally utilized as gemstones.
